In 2013, I had one of the best experiences of my life: teaching 6 teenagers how to make pictures (or, take photographs, if you like).
The students came to a 2-week workshop in Bangalore, India hosted by NuVu Studio. Two of the students were from America, while the other 4 were from Bangalore and attended Parikrma Center for Learning, part of The Parikrma Humanity Foundation, which was started 15 years ago, with the collective desire to create a Sustainable Model of Equal Education for the under privileged and under-served children, who live in slums and orphanages in Bangalore. Of the latter group, none had ever done anything resembling photography.
In 2 weeks, we learned how to see by studying other photographers' work, and spent dozens of hours walking around Bangalore.
The pictures you see here are the best of their efforts, and I think they are nothing short of amazing. I wish I had made many of these images! If you would like to get in touch with any of them, please let me know.
